Question 1

What is DropBee?

Accepted Answer

DropBee is a property price tracker for Australian real estate. We detect price drops and rises on a daily basis across 1,767 suburbs. Whether you're looking for discounted apartments in Sydney, reduced houses in Melbourne, deals in Brisbane, or price cuts in Perth, DropBee surfaces the biggest reductions so you can act with confidence.

Question 2

Are sellers reducing asking prices in Australia?

Accepted Answer

Yes. DropBee is currently tracking 5,911 active asking price reductions across 1,767 suburbs in all 8 states and territories. These are individual properties where the seller has cut their list price since first listing, not overall median price movements. Asking price drops signal motivated sellers and negotiation opportunities, which is useful for buyers regardless of whether the overall market is rising or falling.

Question 3

Where in Australia are property prices dropping the most?

Accepted Answer

NSW, Victoria and Queensland consistently have the highest volume of active price drops, reflecting their larger property markets. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane metro areas see the most reductions in absolute numbers. DropBee tracks every suburb from metro Sydney to regional Tasmania, so you can filter by state, suburb or postcode to find the deepest cuts near you.

Question 4

What counts as a price drop?

Accepted Answer

A price drop is when the current asking price falls below the original price we first recorded. For example, listed at $1M then cut to $950K equals a $50K drop (5%). We also track price rises, when a seller increases their asking price above the original listing price.

Question 5

What is the difference between asking price and sold price?

Accepted Answer

Asking price is what the seller lists the property for. Sold price is what it actually sells for. DropBee tracks asking price changes only, not final sale prices. This matters because a drop in asking price signals the seller is adjusting expectations, giving you a window to negotiate before the property goes under contract.

Question 6

Why do asking price changes matter?

Accepted Answer

Because a price drop signals the seller is open to negotiation. It usually means the property hasn't attracted enough interest, the seller is motivated, or the original price was too ambitious. Either way, it's your window to make a move before someone else does.

Question 7

Is DropBee free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, DropBee is free to use. You can browse every price drop, filter by state, suburb, property type and drop size, watch unlimited suburbs for alerts, and use the Chrome extension that overlays price history directly on Australian property listing websites.

Question 8

Can I get alerts when property prices drop?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can watch any suburb for free and track new price drops in that area. Open any suburb page, click the watch button, and new drops in your watched suburbs will appear in your account dashboard. You can watch as many suburbs as you want across all 8 states.

Question 9

Does DropBee have a browser extension?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The DropBee Chrome extension is free and overlays price drop information directly on Australian property listing websites. When you browse a property online, the extension shows you the full price history, original asking price, total reduction and how many times the price has changed. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.

Question 10

Do you track rentals?

Accepted Answer

Yes. DropBee tracks both properties for sale and properties for rent across all 8 Australian states and territories. Rental listings are scanned daily for weekly asking rent reductions, so tenants and relocating professionals can spot motivated landlords and negotiate lower weekly rates before signing a lease.

Question 11

Which areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We cover all 8 states and territories (NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, ACT, TAS, NT) across 1,767 suburbs, from metro areas to major regional cities. With 5,911 active price drops tracked right now, chances are your area is covered.

Question 12

How often is the data updated?

Accepted Answer

We scan the market daily. Price changes are typically reflected within 24 hours. You can also watch suburbs to get notified when areas you care about see further reductions. For a macro view, check our weekly market reports with detailed analysis and pricing patterns.
